At the moment, hunger is dangerously hitting Haiti’s children the hardest. More than 22% of Haiti children are chronically malnourished while not less than eight dies of hunger in a single week. For many years now, many kids in Haiti had suffered chronic malnutrition; they got sick with deadly infections, and later since there is a lack of medical supplies; they died. Sadly, Haiti is one of the nations where a countless number of children starve to death.

However, since the terrible hurricane that claimed the lives of many people, damaged roads and buildings, caused extensive flooding and mudslides, resulting to electricity, water, and food shortages, the continual rising prices, socio-economic unrest, and a drop in agricultural production had played a significant part in the constant increase in food insecurity in Haiti. The World Food Programme (WFP) published that, averagely, one (or more) in three children in Haiti are in urgent need of urgent food assistance. To worsen the case, the reports prove that out of 3.7 million hunger struck children, over one million are in a state of emergency. Also, the food insecurity saga in rural areas has soared higher by 25% since last year.

MILLIONS OF MALNOURISHED HAITI CHILDREN NEED YOU NOW

It is glaring that hunger conditions in Haiti will continually deteriorate unless more funding is available by passionate NGOs and donors which is one primary reason why illuminating Lives Foundation is calling on you to support us in the challenge to providing sustainable hunger solutions with your esteemed donations to help answer the urgent food assistance call.

Over the years, since food security entered crisis levels, our teams have been able to help to sustainably improve food and nutrition security in diverse ways through our income-generating activities. Yet, we still need your helping hands to solve the urgent hunger situations at hand and further ensure buoyant food security in response to emergency supplies. Some of our projects also include training mothers to screen children for malnutrition, building water storage systems, improving personal hygiene, and of course, providing cash-based food assistance to help families affected.
