Bringing hope and change:

Illuminating Lives Foundation, as its name appeals, brings light to the lives of all the children its aides. Monthly shipments with clothing, books, toys, school supplies, medicines, and many other items are part of the foundation’s actions to supply some of the kids’ physical needs. In terms of spiritual development, these children live in a loving and caring Christian community where they continually learn about the good news of the gospel and are being taught about self-worth, teamwork, community, and family roles to aid their personal growth. The foundation provides a home for these children in the Illuminating Lives orphanage where these supplies reach the kids.

Bringing the gospel to children:

One of our targets is to share the love and word of Christ with all these children, bringing hope, forgiveness, faith, and salvation. We do this daily because we work with several religious leaders within the community. Also, the children are learning the Bible as a subject. While the teaching is on, each child is encouraged to ask questions, share their thoughts or doubts about what they have learned in the Bible, to help them clearly understand God’s word and share it with others. In each of their meetings, the children learn other essential subjects such as civics, social studies, mathematics, and others.

Feeding the hungry:

The majority of Haiti’s entire population is impoverished. According to UNICEF, more than six million Haitians live below the poverty line, which is less than $2.41 per day. Also, over 65,000 children under the age of five are affected by acute malnutrition, and not less than eight dies of hunger in a single week. As a foundation in the community, our primary goal is to solve the urgent hunger situations and ensure abundant food supply in response to future emergency needs. Your kind donations enable us to send funds to buy meals for these children daily – Illuminating Lives feeds over 2,000 children every day.

Education for the children:

Currently, most of the children in Haiti struggle to get access to quality education. Presently, the enrolment rate for primary school pupils in Haiti is 57%, with less than 30% reaching the sixth grade. Meanwhile, only about 52% of the entire Haiti population is literate. Because the Ministry of Education is limited in its ability to improve the quality of education in Haiti as it provides minimal funds to support the public school, majority of schools in Haiti are international private schools funded by American or Canadian institutions, and they serve about 90% of the Haitian students. Through the Illuminating Lives Foundation, orphanage children now have access to quality education and educational materials, while teachers consistently receive higher educational training on subjects and pedagogical strategies.

Shelter for the homeless

We are much passionate and concerned for the children who have become homeless either as a result of the issues of parental demise, broken or dysfunctional homes or abuses and assault, to ensure they the comfort of a second home. We aim to cater for abandoned and abused children. Many children have become wanderers in the streets of Haiti, having nobody to cater to them. At Illuminating Lives, we don’t just provide shelter; we feed, nurture, train, and become what God wants them to be. In our home for the homeless, we protect children’s rights, provide them with love and care, nutritious meals, quality education, good clothing, on-time medical care, and everything that makes life comfortable. As shelter them, we project their destinies. We watch them carefully to discover their God-given talent and give them adequate support to manifest their potentials beyond limits.

Child Sponsorship

In a Haiti where hundreds of thousands of children live in abject poverty, connecting one child with one sponsor is one of the most strategic ways to give life, end poverty and build a future for a child. For the sponsors, sponsoring a child is a deliberate personal way to extend God’s love to a child in need. Sponsors are allowed to help a child to stand tall, free from poverty. Child sponsorship does not only address a child’s immediate physical needs, but it also builds self-esteem and self-love and self-respect. In the hard times of crisis, poor children are vulnerable and need to face uncertain futures. We sponsor children to give them access to life-changing benefits, such as educational support, medical care, life skills, and job training before graduation. Also, our child sponsorship program offers: Progressive Christian training through a local church. Educational support Life skills training and vocational programs Medical care Supplements to protect against malnutrition. Recreational activities to develop self-confidence and social skills. Protection from danger, violence, and crime. We keep our sponsors in touch through frequent reports containing photos of their sponsored child to know the progress and see how much they are helping the child when it matters most.

Our prayer:

As a Christian organization, our central prayer to the Lord is to aid those in need of spiritual, physical, or financial issues. Illuminating Lives Foundation focuses on helping one of the most vulnerable people in our society, children. We are aware that many children all over the world are in need, and we want to start by helping one of the poorest nations in the globe Haiti, where children have limited access to food, healthcare, education, housing, and other basic needs. Illuminating lives have a team dedicated to praying for the donors and volunteers who donate to the foundation, whether they do it regularly. The word of God tells us to pray at all times, and our team prays day and night for our donors, and everyone involved directly or indirectly with our organization.
