Having survived so many years of various overwhelming natural disasters that have resulted in house and property damages, crop spoilage, food shortages, and other life-threatening crises over the years, it is not inaccurate that Haitian children are tough people. As a result, homelessness, malnutrition, unemployment, and disease infections are the present challenging factors that have created a frighteningly high level of poverty and a low level of education in the country. As often expected, the worst effects of all the catastrophic disasters mount on the children not less than 40% of children under age five suffer from chronic malnutrition. Many have no clothes and shelter to hide when night falls.

As generally known, Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere, with about 80% of Haitians living in abject poverty, and about 62% of the entire population lives on less than $1.25 per day. Sadly the 2010 disastrous earthquake added more than 150,000 orphans in a single day. As abject poverty continues to strike in most communities in Haiti, its adverse effects have resulted in the inability of children to attend schools, get a quality education. At the same time, their parents remain in the devastating cycle of poverty. Looking at Haiti’s present pathetic situation, it seems complicated for families to break away from this poverty state. According to research, 40 in every 100 children in Haiti had never been to school, and 55% of them are illiterate.

LET’S CARE FOR THE ORPHANS!

At Illuminating Lives Foundation, we aim to tackle the pervasive poverty in the land by embarking on a few safety projects for lives and property, installing a new water filtration system to enable access to clean hygienic running water, as well as creating opportunities for better living, supply learning materials to schools to allow sound education and more. But most importantly, if the care is going to life-changing, your kind donations will seal it. We are so thrilled to share this vision with you because we believe in you.

Many orphans in Haiti await your kind donations.
