Since January 12, 2010, the disastrous earthquake that claimed the lives of Haitians in hundreds of thousands, left many injured, and caused about 2 million people to be displaced from their comfort zones (homes), the health crisis has become overwhelming and has continually risen to an emergency level. The catastrophic incidence destroyed most government buildings, schools, homes, hospitals, and more, and this has put the health challenges on a higher pedestal. 40% of the Haitians have no access to primary health care, more than half has no access to drugs, 76% of deliveries are made by non-qualified personnel, and only one of every two children are vaccinated.

Sadly, the overcrowding, poor living conditions, and deficiencies in the Haiti public health system led to the prevalence of the AIDS epidemic and increased Haitians’ risk for infectious diseases. Beyond doubt, the present intensifying health crisis in Haiti needs immediate medical attention.
